Triangle Ecycling Brings Corporate Computer Recycling With Social Impact to Austin-Area Businesses

Austin-area businesses retiring 50 or more laptops or desktops receive convenient pickup, secure chain of custody, certified data destruction and full documentation, including a certificate of destruction and carbon reduction receipt, all at no cost. Refurbished computers help train students in tech and community service and support local charities.

AUSTIN, Texas (October 15, 2026): Triangle Ecycling, a nonprofit computer recycler founded in 2011, is expanding its free corporate bulk computer pickup service across the Austin area, Cedar Park, Georgetown, and North Austin.

Triangle Ecycling has recently completed pickups for several Austin-area companies, including financial services and tech firms with strict data protection requirements.

Austin-area companies retiring 50 or more laptops or desktops, or several server racks, can schedule a free pickup, usually within three days. Triangle Ecycling guarantees secure chain of custody, ensures NIST 800-88 data sanitization and provides a serialized inventory, certificate of destruction and carbon reduction receipt. Non-reusable equipment is recycled by an R2v3 certified recycling partner under a zero-landfill policy.

The documentation is designed for companies that answer to auditors and regulators, including banks and other financial services providers as well as software, life sciences and professional services firms.

What sets Triangle Ecycling apart is where the equipment goes next. Working computers are refurbished and donated to nonprofits, used in a free program that trains high school students for jobs in information technology, or resold to fund that program. The organization has donated more than 5,000 computers, commits to donating more than 500 each year, and gives 10% of its profits to local nonprofits supporting education, families and the environment.

“When Austin companies retire laptops, desktops and servers coming off warranty or during a refresh, that equipment still has a useful second life,” said Larry Herst, founder and CEO of Triangle Ecycling. “We make it free, simple and convenient for companies to retire them securely, with every document their auditors need, and the computers go on to help vetted nonprofits, students and families in need. We call it ‘repurposing computers for good.’”
